Wæm Væszo Sèr (/ˈvæszo/ /sɤr/ [strong; tough; sturdy; robust; severe; intense] [witness]) is a subtropical Large Town located in Lèljĭih Zone, If-70cqǐnrì District, within the Federation of Alveria.

The name Wæm Væszo Sèr is derived from the Constructi language, as Wæm Væszo Sèr was founded by Rw-46y 'Roboto' Dyèbe, who was culturaly Constructi.

Climate

Wæm Væszo Sèr has a yearly average temperature of 22°C (71°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 17°C (62°F). Wæm Væszo Sèr receives an average of 278 cm/y (109 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Wæm Væszo Sèr covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 7860 m (-17162 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Wæm Væszo Sèr was founded durring the late 13th century in winter of the year 1177, by Rw-46y 'Roboto' Dyèbe. The establishment of Wæm Væszo Sèr was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Rw-46y 'Roboto' Dyèbe struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Wæm Væszo Sèr as a prison colony.

Wæm Væszo Sèr was built using the conventions of Constructi durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Wæm Væszo Sèr is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Wæm Væszo Sèr is buildings are arranged arround a network of broad packed earth streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks and fences to provide minimal protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. The town's somewhat suffishent have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.

A quick look in any direction shows Wæm Væszo Sèr is filled with vices. There are many taverns, brothels are advertising their services on the streets, cardsharks are plying their illicit trade within public squairs, and every shop has at least three signs advertising various sales on goods. That alone wouldn’t be too noticeable, if it wasn’t just so omnipresent and overwhelmingly how the people of this town live. Or if the general public wasn’t so enthusiastically, openly, and merrily participating in these activities.

Civic Infrastructure

Wæm Væszo Sèr has an animal control department which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the control, impoundment, and disposition of animals.

Wæm Væszo Sèr has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Wæm Væszo Sèr. Wæm Væszo Sèr has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Wæm Væszo Sèr's natural decorations nor waterways.

Cultural Notes

The locals have cut a deal with some unspeakable entity, trading some form of tribute (benign of horrific) in exchange for the being’s forbearance or assistance. Outsiders may be ignorant of the bargain, or they may know that the community is in thrall but be too fearful of its master to take action against them. The creature likely serves as a protector as well as a tyrant, so the locals may be content with the deal even if it doesn’t offer any further inducement or aid.

Wæm Væszo Sèr's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is which made use of the classical orders and mathematically precise ratios of height and width combined with a desire for symmetry, proportion, and harmony. It used columns, pediments, arches and domes are imaginatively in buildings of all types. Decorative features were seen as largely unnecessary as the sheer beauty of the structure itself was often close to art. However, many buildings with large ceiling spaces had their ceilings decorated with elaborate paintings, simply because the large flat spaces could feel wasted.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is long in Wæm Væszo Sèr.

The Copsewight near Wæm Væszo Sèr are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Wæm Væszo Sèr's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 1 via divine sermons.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Wæm Væszo Sèr was attacked by savage ogress living nearby. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Wæm Væszo Sèr lost 173 people, 195 livestock, and 46 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 153, when members of Wæm Væszo Sèr's militia enacted an operation to construct defenses in a particular fortification. The operation was complicated by a natural disaster interrupted the operation, shattering unit cohesion. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in victory for Wæm Væszo Sèr's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Wæm Væszo Sèr's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
